Our smartphones are integral parts of our lives. These days when the word “compass” is heard, we think of that app in our phones. We all have a compass in the 21st century. Death lurks at the doors of the good ol’ compass as how photographic film succumbed to digital sensors.. or not? North is North, what’s this about Magnetic North and True North?
When it comes to Feng Shui, do we want to use the magnetic or would true be the one? What’s the difference anyways between the magnetic north and the true north? This article pretty much covers the differences between the both. So, which is it? If you’ve read an earlier writing of mine, you’d pretty much get the idea that Feng Shui is about harnessing the energy around us in ways that bring positive outcomes. Hint: keyword being energy.
When Magnetism plays a big role in energy play, Qi being energy, Magnetic North having the word “magnet”, no brainer right? Keep it simple folks, no need to complicate things. So Magnetic North it is for Feng Shui practices, ya.
But still.. would the compass app on your smart phone suffice? What’s the fuss about carrying a Luo Pan when conducting a Feng Shui audit? Is it all for show? Before even dwelling in the usefulness or validity of a Luo Pan, try this, at a gathering, get your friends to launch their compass apps. Place the phones side by side perhaps a feet away from each other, each pointing at the same physical direction. Do they all read the same? Be a sport, repeat the same exercise, this time with actual compasses (you’d be lucky to have 5 friends who own compasses), do the needles point to the same direction?
